*various incoherent noises of disbelief, disgust and outright rage*

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] sinboy, I hear about this. Go read the article, then come back and let me put the following in bold so it becomes crystal clear:

"DAYTON, Tenn. - The county that was the site of the Scopes "Monkey Trial" over the teaching of evolution is asking lawmakers to amend state law so the county can charge homosexuals with crimes against nature.

(snip)

Commissioner J.C. Fugate, who introduced the measure, also asked the county attorney to find a way to enact an ordinance banning homosexuals from living in the county.

"We need to keep them out of here," Fugate said."

Anybody want to look me square in the damn eye and tell me this isn't about discrimination and hatred, anymore?

It's not about discrimination and hatred, it's about believing they're the Chosen Of God, and that the concept of discrimination against anyone who isn't the Chosen Of God is meaningless because anyone who isn't the Chosen Of God isn't human in the first place. You might as well talk about discrimination against fish. And we all know that ANYTHING you do in the name of God isn't motivated by hatred, it's your Sacred Holy Duty to show the Divine Truth to those sinners. God said it's OK to burn heretics alive at the stake along with their families, it's for their own good after all ....
