actually...

some of the legal basis for abortion rights in the U.S. is based on a "right to privacy", and so legal support of abortion rights was seen, during the late 80's and early 90's, as crucial to creating a legal basis for gay rights.

And as for "truly extraordinary", can I point out that its not unusual for lesbians to be raped as a way to "straighten them (us?) out".
