I know, Doc. Maybe I am unusually dumb, but I really do not understand why it should make any difference. It seems to me that a person is either a citizen or not. They are either granted all the rights and responsibilities of being a citizen or they are not. If they are not granted the rights, they should not be responsible for the responsibilities of citizens. The government does not want to grant GLBT all the rights of citizens, then the government should not expect them to be available for military service, jury duty, policemen, firemen, doctors, lawyers, clergy, teachers, chefs, politics, scientists, or really anything else. They certainly should not be expected to pay taxes of any kind. This makes them pets of the government? Wait a minute, that could so very easily sound like "slave". I seem to recall something about a Constitution in this country? That isn't legal. Gee. How 'bout that?
Anyway, hugs to you and yours. I hope this gets worked out soon.
