The Ultimate Jesus Christ Superstar
Apr. 9th, 2004 09:18 pmOr at least as best as I can assemble from what I have to work with, anyway. This will be presented this very Sunday night as per Radio Nosferatu/Radio Free Callahans Easter tradition at 9 p.m. eastern *precisely* on Radio Nosferatu and the Radio Free Callahans streams.
After the show, I'll be announcing which songs came from which soundtracks. But for now, let me tease you a bit with my selection for "Superstar" itself.
My selection for the ultimate Superstar (at least based on what I have to work with)? Laibach.
No, it's not on any of the soundtracks. But a more evocative performance of the song you'll be hard pressed to find. It makes me think of the Pharisees on some platform above the beaten Christ, using the song to gloat over his punishment and impending crucifixion.
Anyway, I'm hoping you folks will enjoy the show. At 5 p.m. eastern, Radio N will be presenting the debut of Gorilla Radio. At 7 p.m. eastern as usual, the one and only Freak Show.
I'll post more details tomorrow, but please make plans to join us.
