Attn: Fred Saberhagen fans
Jul. 27th, 2005 10:38 pm(snagged from a mailing list I'm on)
I just received this e-mail about Fred Saberhagen, the author
of "The Dracula Tape" and its sequels:
It is with deep regret that we must announce that Fred Saberhagen
was just diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer. Metastatic prostate
cancer is prostate cancer that has spread to the lymph nodes or other
parts of the body (metastasized).
He has asked us to relay that he is in the process of getting the cancer
stabilized. He has also said that he does hope and plan to see us all
at some other future con.
When asked if there is a medical fund that fans can contribute to for
his behalf, he says that; "Right now, there's no fund in existence that
I know about. Med costs are still uncertain."
"We are sorry to miss the opportunity to spend time with a beloved author
and hope to see him in the near future elsewhere," said Bobbie DuFault,
Chairman of Cascadia Con.
We will continue to celebrate through this convention the many works of
Fred Saberhagen. If a fund becomes available, we will make that information
known to all our attendees. Further information on Fred is available at his
website though at this time there is nothing regarding his health condition
