Ya know..

I find it vastly amusing that the far right is whinging on and on and on ad nauseam about Robert Byrd being ex-Klan when their major evidence on this point is one letter written in 1947.

Keep running your mouth, people. It just makes you look like bigger jackasses, not to mention utter hypocrites (Jesse Helms or Strom Thurmond, anyone?).

Would you be referring to me perchance?

I've never been a Jesse Helms or Strom Thurmond fan meself...

And I am hardly far right.

It doesn't matter that Byrd is Senator Pork Barrel Klansman from West Virginia (and he is). One may attack his integrity, and question whether he (or any other Democratic senator in office for decades) truly objects to the principle of "preemption" on the ostensible grounds given. For the record, I don't believe them. But his comments should be evaluated on their merits. Anything else is an ad hominem argument, and logically specious.

The fact remains that Dr. Rice has been a firm supporter of the war against Iraq, and that war is unjustified, both constitutionally (my real concern) and pragmatically. I admire her intelligence, talent and loyalty, but she's wrong about this.
