FUCK Bill O'Reilly

(Overheard on today's show by a member of [livejournal.com profile] o_reallyfactor)

O'Reilly:"when you become pregnant, you lose control of your body. you've made the decision to be come pregnant, so when you become pregnant, you're sharing your body with someone else. that forfeits your right to have total control."

Woman Caller:"i'm sorry, but i don't agree with you."

O'Reilly:"well, you have to. that's the way it is."

Falafel Man proceeded to then hang up on the woman and call her "a liberal who doesn't know what she's talking about", and then went to a commercial.

And just because I'm pissed off and in the perfect mood to do so, here's a cartoon from the wise and holy [livejournal.com profile] scottbateman that pretty much sums up President Bucky The Wonder Chimp's budget.

The Veteran's Administration hospitals in Tennessee are places of last resort for health care. I've you are to poor to go to the county hospital and even the local veterinary clinic won’t take you, you go to the VA. Bush wants veterans to pay a $250 enrollment fee, the same veterans who are too poor to afford adequate healthcare. Bush’s contention is that wealthy people are using the VA to avoid paying for health care. It’s obvious he has never been in the Nashville VA. He also is proposing increasing the co-pay for medicine. Again, it’s the very people who can pay the least bearing the cost of his economic voodoo. This type of economic practice only makes sense if you postulate that letting the poorest, weakest members of society die, then there is more to go around for the remainder.

On a personal note, military retiree’s put up with terrible working and living conditions and low pay (compare what a GI gets paid to what a Haliburton contractor gets paid for the same work if you have any doubt) for at least twenty years because the promised retirement benefits are factored into their compensation. Looked at from a strictly economic stand point, killing off retirees only makes sense because you have to continue to pay them and they are contributing nothing. Lying about their benefits makes sense because people will not remember that the government lied unless they are directly effected, those whom it effects the most are old and useless anyway, and if they had any value as citizens they would have gotten higher paying jobs which would allow them to pay their own way.

I worry about the day when the drop the pretense of providing care for retirees and disabled people and just start euthanizing us as a budget measure, like they did in Germany.

Enroll *this*!!!

My uncle already paid his enrollment fee. He had the back of his airplane shot off in WWII and he can barely walk. No one who can afford anything better would dream of going to the VA hospital.

from Sojourners that even "people of faith" cannot in good conscience stand with this budget. What a stupid man we have elected.

I work at the KCVA...I know one, count him...one wealthy veteran who uses the VA...and he is blind and diabetic and has cancer and is service connected, so Bush's idiocy doesn't apply to him. The vast majority of veterans using the services make well under $20,000 per year to support themselves and their families if they have families. I've seen two cases this winter of homeless veterans having frostbitten feet amputated. Where the hell will these guys get $250?
