This...thing...has been around for decades, actually.
I remember first reading about it in a book called 'Roadside America', which was a sort of compilation of sideshows and dinosaur parks.
It was weird then, and it's still weird now. But the guy who came up with it became a gazillionaire.
Scary, innit?
