Oh. My. God.

The gothic "subculture" is officially over. How do I know this?

[snort][chuckle][guffaw] There used to be some Common Wisdom regarding old guys trying to "write young" in a desperate attempt to catch the youth demographic, especially in TV shows. This is absolutely an example of that, and I have no idea if they thought it through enough to congratulate themselves on the shallowness of their treatment with the excuse that "Hey! Betty wouldn't know that much about Goth, either".

The big tipoff for me is, of course, how eager they are to play "Sonic the Hedgehog", a long-dead franchise. GTA, Halo, Call of Duty, SSX, Soul Caliber 3... but not frickin' Sonic.

The ten-to-fifteen-year-old slang throughout doesn't help matters any.

Yeah, I read the whole thing thinking "this is a parody of an Archie strip, right?" Hilarious.

I do have to amend one point, though -- out of curiosity I just went looking, and found, to my great surprise, a new "Sonic" game -- more specifically, Shadow the Hedgehog, who I guess has guns 'n' stuff, from the look of things. Sigh. Oh, the simple days of running and collecting rings....

... Maybe they should do Sauron the Hedgehog.

Also, the reason it is mentioned has much more to do with the fact that Sonic is an Archie Comics title.

The things I learn from LJ!

The placement is accurate, since Archie Comics produces the bastardized "Sonic The Hedgehog" comic that has practically nothing to do with the game.
