Stupidity does not lie in belief in a higher power. Stupidity lies in allowing that belief to take precedence over documented facts, and even the evidence of your own eyes and senses, where the two conflict — something I've never once seen you do.

I don't blame you a bit for being offended. I'm a hard atheist with no mystical beliefs whatsoever, and my eldest son is an intelligent, Torah-observant Jew whom I obviously love and respect deeply. Having philosophical differences with someone should not be expressed by denigrating that person. I don't have to respect your beliefs, nor you mine. I do respect you, and your right to believe as you wish.

Me too. I agree with this completely. I'm fairly intelligent and hold a BS in science that should disprove much of religious faith dogma, yet I still believe in God/dess/deity. There is room for all opinions, I think.

Aw, Doc, I'm sorry to hear that. I firmly believe in God, and anyone who tries to make fun of my belief can, well, go to Hell! (Joke there.) It's nobody's business what anyone else believes, and my faith has been the only thing that's got me through some super rough times... it's how I KNOW there's a God. *HUGS*
