Well, so much for that.

About twenty minutes ago, my "old friend" the computer decided it was going to take an extended vacation. To wit: the CPU fan gave up the ghost entirely, and the power supply fan was making noises like Godzilla gargling. Soooooooooo, back to the new machine I go and am currently on. What a weekend!

I actually keep spare fans and PS's around just for that. The only thing I Don't keep around evidently is a spare floppy drive... I haven't built a PC with one in it for quite some time... Turns out when one installs 2K or XP and you want to use 3rd party drivers (like to boot off one's raid array) you MUST install them via floppy, there is no way to get it to look for those files on your CD or Network :(

You know, I once saw this computer that was liquid-cooled. They had it in a Tupperware container FILLED with Canola oil. If I can find the site again, I'll post it...

re the award bios.... Tony says that if you are specifiying master and slave with the jumpers, to just put it on Cable select (or vice versa) and see if the drives work better in it.

Helen (would have mentioned it a couple days ago, but you'd already given up on it.)
