Can somebody who can read Kanji (Japanese alphabet) tell me what the heck the kid on this screen is "saying"? It appears to be vital to progressing beyond the stage I'm on in the game:

I can't help, but you have my sympathies. If everything's in Japanese, though, you might run into further problems. :S

My sister guesses it's something about talking to someone and getting them to open something, but she can't recognize enough of the complicated kanji to be sure.

If you haven't found out by Saturday, drop a note in my journal and I'll translate it; but I don't have time to look up all those kanji tonight. What kind of game is this? Because even in manga aimed at teenagers you usually don't see that many kanji strung together without intervening kana--this person's using a lot of Chinese-based wordage, I think, and yeah, they're opening something.

Super Tokusatsu Taisen 2001. It's a strategy game involving pretty much all the major tokusatsu and sentai figure from about 1967 through the early 70's and a bit beyond.

It appears you'll need to get into the TDF institute/building and control it before you can save Minami. I cross posted this to the [livejournal.com profile] japanophile community, so I'll see if I can get a confirming answer from them.

Good luck, Hokuto-kun! ;)

The best I can do -

"Aha! If I don't control the connection to the TDF facility, Minami won't...(something)!"

I'm missing two things - the character right before "shinai to", and the last kanji in the sentence. Frustrating!

TDF no 関連施設 (kanren shisetsu) wo 制圧 (seiatsu) shinai to Minami-san wa, 救 (suku)enain da!

or, I think it's something along these lines:

TDF's relation-instution (I can't tell you exactly what this is referring to) didn't gain control, and Minami-san didn't get rescued!

"sukuu" (to rescue from) uses the same kanji as in "tasukeru" (to help).

Aha, the wierd font was screwing me up. So which part makes it past tense?

ah, good point. it isn't past tense. :)

Wai! Minami-san may yet be saved! ^_^

No, it says: "That's it! If we don't get control of the TDF facilities, we won't be able to save Minami-san!"

Thanks! I so love this game. I mean, where else can have both Kikaiders, Himitsu Sentai GoRanger and Inazuman all on the same battlefield? This game is a complete love letter to all things tokusatsu and sentai from about the late 60's on through the 80's.
