McCarthyism at it's finest

(snagged from [livejournal.com profile] mrdankelly)

What Nancy Pelosi actually said:

'The time has come to speak very frankly about the lack of leadership in the White House. So the emperor has no clothes. When are people going to face the reality? Pull the curtain back.'

But yes, the snivelling pondscum moronic dickhead loser wastes of genetic material (aka the Neo-Conservative Elite (I refuse to call these fuckheads Republicans)) were quick to respond:

By evening, the Republican Party distributed an 11-page critique of Pelosi's liberal record as a member of Congress titled, 'Totally San Fran: 17 years of San Francisco Liberalism.'

But across the Potomac at Bush-Cheney re-election headquarters, campaign chair Marc Racicot said the comments were 'a reprehensible attempt to blame America for the action of terrorists and represent a fundamental misunderstanding of the war on terror.' (What the fuck drugs is this idiot on, anyhow?)

Rep. Tom Reynolds, the chair of the House Republicans re-election committee, said, 'If Nancy Pelosi has nothing to offer our troops, who are living and dying thousands of miles away, besides taunting them by saying they are dying needlessly and are risking their lives on a shallow mission, then she should go back to her pastel-colored condo in San Francisco and keep her views to herself.'

In other words, if you don't agree with the war, keep your mouth shut or we'll lay meaningless moronic utterly irrelevant insults on you, you turrist sympathiser.

Rep. Robert Matsui of Sacramento said: 'Frankly, that's
McCarthyism.'

Well put. These idiots need to be put away in rooms with soft walls.

I'm proud of having Rep. Matsui as my district rep. He's one of the sponsors of the "roll back PATRIOT" act, and his office has always responded every time I've sent email through the EFF (which is more than my other congresscritters have ever done).

I was reading an article by some hard-right pundit the other day talking about what a fine, noble fellow Joe McCarthy was, a great statesman, an example to us all. Well, OK, sure, so he dragged the entire US into a witch-hunt that destroyed the careers and sometimes the lives of thousands of people whose only crime was to know someone who knew someone who'd once read a book about communism, for no purpose but to ride the post-war anti-communist hysteria to personal wealth and power, but aside from that, he was just a real regular stand-up guy, a paragon of virtue.

It almost made me want to hurl.
