URGENT - Radio Nosferatu INCREDIBLY ANNOYING News

Well, kids, I just had to *turn off* requests because some scumbag is overloading the server with split second requests from multiple IPs endlessly. I'll have requests back on as soon as we can shut this idiot down. SonofafuckingBITCH!

What was being requested?

Maybe it was the Hamster Dance.

you really should move the request pages to the RN server.. unless they are there..
then.. go into CPANEL and choose the IP Block option.. you can block that SOB :)

That's where they are and that's what both Mike and I tried. Several times. It's not working. Grr. Ask him about it, I've got to go be a good lil' househubby-to-be and fetch some cold meds for my sweetie. It should take a couple hours all told, with the bus schedules and such.

Doc,
Is there anything in common to the IPs you're being attacked from? If they're all from a single netblock, you could just firewall out that netblock. If not, you can either add some kind of request authentication, or you could switch the request service to a nonstandard port and inform Your Faithful Listeners.... then if the attacks continue on the new port, you probably just narrowed down your attacker's identity.

'Course, you could also probably identify the attacker by physically visiting all your listeners and inspecting them to see which one has a dick the size of a pencil eraser....

a better way is to do like when you join a yahoogroup or register some domains -

Use Imagemagik/GDlib to raw-write an image with text in it that has to be confirmed for a request to happen..

helps prevent abuse. though, then they just may ddos the server:/
