Florida voter suppression update
Oct. 29th, 2004 07:39 amIn an entirely disgusting twist, it seems.. well, I'll just cut and paste:
"A report leading the BBC Newsnight newscast about how African Americans are being targeted by Republicans in Florida 2004. The journalist who did the report discussed on Democracy Now! that the RNC threatened the BBC if they aired the report and that the RNC would restrict future access to Republican guests.
Note: this is the same reporter who broke the story about voter suppression of the African American vote after the 2000 election fiasco in Florida - a story that the American media passingly picked up only several months later and was also covered in F9/11 in a big way. (i.e. Florida republican election officials knowingly put African Americans on the do-not-vote list because of non-existent criminal records)."
The above and a video of said report can be found here.
Do they have no shame, no basic decency?

Tonight it begins. That's right, my famed in song, story and semaphore code Halloween weekend shows. Tonight will be madness, mayhem and Halloween music galore. Tomorrow night, pretty much the same except a twin main event at 8 eastern time. To wit, my remastered version of the Mercury Theater "War Of The Worlds" to be followed by Jeff Wayne's incredible 1978 musical version featuring music by The Moody Blues and Thin Lizzy, among others.
Let's get ready to kick Halloween up a notch, kiddies! I'll post times and such later, but you can probably guess when if you've followed my shows at all.

I am so angry. I am so fucking furious. There are not words in the English language to adequately express how beyond the far reaches of anger I currently am.
I will state it here, and I will state it clearly: The entire goddamn current Republican party powerful are fear mongers, thugs, liars, bullies and outright fucking crooks who are a disgrace to noble heritage of not only their party, but this country.
Before you even open your fucking mouth to insinuate I'm unAmerican, weak or soft on whatever talking point the neo-con assclowns are currently using as their meme of the moment, I say this: DO NOT FUCKING GO THERE.
My goddamned great-grandfather Angus was in WW1. My grandfather Irving was in a tank battalion in WW2, and was involved in the cleanup ops after D-Day. My father was in Thailand the day I was born, and I - yes, I - had talked to a Marine recruiter, my senior year of high school name of Adam Warren. I figured if I was going to go in, go with the toughest I could think of and have a real sense of accomplishment, you know? Then comes the game against North Harrison and to make a long story short, my left kneecap was turned into silly putty and decide to take a vacation partway up my thigh. So much for that military career. I figured after two a day practices under an ex-Special Forces man, basic just could NOT be that bad. If you think that's a stretch, you never knew Dennis Hancock. So Don't. Fucking. Go. There.
What, you reasonably ask, has prompted this latest explosion? This.
Yes, friends and fucking neighbors, the Ohio Republican Party is in danger of four of it's members being brought up on fifth fucking degree felony charges because of (shock! horror!) false claims to challenge this woman's right to vote. Why, oh why did they do this? Because she rejected a lousy fucking registered letter, that's fucking why!
I've lost COUNT of how many stories I've seen regarding Republican voter fraud. Trashed ballots, voter intimidation, bogus vote challenging, strategies for all of this that would cause Niccolo Macchiavelli to gape in admiration..
Ya know, I can (relatively speaking) take damn near slanderous attacks on a candidate. That's hardly new, and far far worse was the absolutely norm a century or two ago. I can take stupid budgetary decisions and bullshit rhetoric. Again, it's sadly par for the course.
But when you try to take away a fundamental right of the American people just to keep you and your maggot ass friends in power, you have crossed a line that should never be crossed and you WILL be brought to heel for it. Damn you, damn everything you stand for, and the American people are going to rise up and run you out of power by dint of the single most powerful weapon an American citizen possesses - the vote. That's what they're afraid of. They are shitting themselves because they know good and damned well they've been found out for the leeches they are and they know the clock is ticking.
We are the real patriots, damn you. We will not shut up, we will not back down, and we will NOT go away.
Now some of you might still be asking what's got me in such an uproar that's run on and on for all these long months? Why am I taking this so personally?
I'll tell you why.
I voted for Bush.
Yes, me.
Why? Because I honestly thought the Censorship Express of Gore and Liebermann was the worst we had to fear from an administration. I thought that Shrub was such an ineffective mook he would serve an utterly undistinguished four years and blow away in the dust. BOY, was I off the mark!
So there it is, people. There's the bottom line of why I am so damn insensate. I helped put that miserable fucker in the office, and I feel the responsibility to myself, my country, my friends and my family to take him right the fuck out of office by casting my vote on Tuesday for John Kerry and John Edwards.
Don't just take my word for it, oh no!
The protest song is alive, kicking, and severely pissed off.
A long time coming
Time for some serious pruning!
I close with a link to some quotes about something those miserable bastards will never understand: Patriotism.
I'm Clay Evans, and I approve this message. God bless America.

It's on. Halloween weekend 2004 edition is just too ghoul for school. Get listenin', join us on IRC and/or AIM, and let's get this mayhem underway.
The best thing to use to listen to the stream is Winamp, of course, and you can find the version I myself use here.
NOTE: Just right click and Save As, then run it to install.
From there, it depends on what kind of connect speed you have:
Dialup, I'd go with the Low feed. DSL and above, I'd try the high feed first.
You can also use RealPlayer 7 and above, as well as (as far as I know) Windows Media Player 9. As far as WMP goes, I haven't tried it with any of the earlier releases.
The absolute best way to listen in, at least for me, is to find whatever command your player uses for Add URL or Open URL, something like that.
With Winamp, it's Ctrl-L and you cut/paste one of the two addies in, hit open to exit the URL window, and hit play. You should be good to go from there.
If you want to make requests, go to http://rhis.2ya.com and off on the left hand side of the screen is a link to PlayList & Requests. Go there, click on the style of music you want, click on the Request link by the song you want and hey presto.
Anyway, let's do this.
