I am so angry. I am so fucking furious. There are not words in the English language to adequately express how beyond the far reaches of anger I currently am.

I will state it here, and I will state it clearly: The entire goddamn current Republican party powerful are fear mongers, thugs, liars, bullies and outright fucking crooks who are a disgrace to noble heritage of not only their party, but this country.

Before you even open your fucking mouth to insinuate I'm unAmerican, weak or soft on whatever talking point the neo-con assclowns are currently using as their meme of the moment, I say this: DO NOT FUCKING GO THERE.

My goddamned great-grandfather Angus was in WW1. My grandfather Irving was in a tank battalion in WW2, and was involved in the cleanup ops after D-Day. My father was in Thailand the day I was born, and I - yes, I - had talked to a Marine recruiter, my senior year of high school name of Adam Warren. I figured if I was going to go in, go with the toughest I could think of and have a real sense of accomplishment, you know? Then comes the game against North Harrison and to make a long story short, my left kneecap was turned into silly putty and decide to take a vacation partway up my thigh. So much for that military career. I figured after two a day practices under an ex-Special Forces man, basic just could NOT be that bad. If you think that's a stretch, you never knew Dennis Hancock. So Don't. Fucking. Go. There.

What, you reasonably ask, has prompted this latest explosion? This.

Yes, friends and fucking neighbors, the Ohio Republican Party is in danger of four of it's members being brought up on fifth fucking degree felony charges because of (shock! horror!) false claims to challenge this woman's right to vote. Why, oh why did they do this? Because she rejected a lousy fucking registered letter, that's fucking why!

I've lost COUNT of how many stories I've seen regarding Republican voter fraud. Trashed ballots, voter intimidation, bogus vote challenging, strategies for all of this that would cause Niccolo Macchiavelli to gape in admiration..

Ya know, I can (relatively speaking) take damn near slanderous attacks on a candidate. That's hardly new, and far far worse was the absolutely norm a century or two ago. I can take stupid budgetary decisions and bullshit rhetoric. Again, it's sadly par for the course.

But when you try to take away a fundamental right of the American people just to keep you and your maggot ass friends in power, you have crossed a line that should never be crossed and you WILL be brought to heel for it. Damn you, damn everything you stand for, and the American people are going to rise up and run you out of power by dint of the single most powerful weapon an American citizen possesses - the vote. That's what they're afraid of. They are shitting themselves because they know good and damned well they've been found out for the leeches they are and they know the clock is ticking.

We are the real patriots, damn you. We will not shut up, we will not back down, and we will NOT go away.

Now some of you might still be asking what's got me in such an uproar that's run on and on for all these long months? Why am I taking this so personally?

I'll tell you why.

I voted for Bush.

Yes, me.

Why? Because I honestly thought the Censorship Express of Gore and Liebermann was the worst we had to fear from an administration. I thought that Shrub was such an ineffective mook he would serve an utterly undistinguished four years and blow away in the dust. BOY, was I off the mark!

So there it is, people. There's the bottom line of why I am so damn insensate. I helped put that miserable fucker in the office, and I feel the responsibility to myself, my country, my friends and my family to take him right the fuck out of office by casting my vote on Tuesday for John Kerry and John Edwards.

Don't just take my word for it, oh no!

The protest song is alive, kicking, and severely pissed off.

A long time coming

Time for some serious pruning!

I close with a link to some quotes about something those miserable bastards will never understand: Patriotism.

I'm Clay Evans, and I approve this message. God bless America.

Those morons in Ohio need to be deported. Seriously, send them to Uraguay.

I'm speechless.
And there is a registered letter at the post office for me.
Lucky for me, it's from my mortgage company about a refinance.
Did it ever occur to these morons that we live in a DEMOCRACY and we get to choose for ourselves. I'm so saddened that these people can't let it go. We need the UN to monitor our election. We are electing the leader of the Free World. I don't think it's too much to ask.

My husband feels exactly the same. He voted for Bush for much the same reasons as you did. The kicker is he was a resident of Florida at the time so it really counted. He's been kicking himself ever since.

I am so disgusted by all this fraud bullshit going on.

Y'know, Shipmate ...

You're gonna get a ulcer if you insist on keeping all this bottled up inside. Seriously. It'd do you a world of good if you'd just let it all out.

(Probably save all your neighbors when you finally snap, to boot. Think about it.)

I understand voting for Bush. The choice was Gore. And I'm glad you remembered Tipper's goal in life back in the 80's hasn't been staunched by time. In fact when her man took sidecar to the giggolo, she still managed to ban some very nice paintings.
Don't be mad with yourself. Gore would have pissed himself on the floor when 9/11 happened. Regan, Bush.1, Bush.2, Nixon - these guys could have handled 9/11.

But now, we have to vote Kerry for the same reason we voted for Bush last time. Because the alternate is worse.

You were right on the ball about Bush - you just didn't count on those other guys. He was groomed as a standby president. But when 9/11 happened there were only 2 ways for him to go: The Best President or The Worst President of history.
Now you know.

That was wonderful. You are a courageous man. I'm also responsible for this mess, since I was one of the mush-heads who voted for Reagan in 80 and 84, thereby solidifying Bush I's regime (of which this present junta is just a continuation). I did not vote for either Bush - I couldn't stomach them. There was something about them that scared me even during B1's regime, and he wasn't the religious fanatic his son is. B II is even worse, because he is a religious zealot who has appealed to the gut reactions of the typical angry guy who doesn't have it so good - and who doesn't realize that this scion of rich oilmen is robbing him blind.

But I can see why you would vote against Gore - the censorship issue was pretty horrible, and I didn't want Leiberman or Mrs. Gore anywhere near the white house. Nonetheless I voted for them, because I hated the name of Bush and all it stood for.

I don't know what Kerry is going to do if elected. He may bring back the draft (he keeps talking about "more troops". But I agree that these crooks need to go, need to be prosecuted and need to be in jail for a long time for what they have done, for what they are STILL trying to do.

But all that aside, I am inspired by your courage.

I would have voted for Gore, but only because any republican pretty much scares me away. However, I wasn't old enough. I won't hold your vote for Shrub against you, because other than that, you're awesome. :) *hugs*

Don't worry about it!

This election has made SO many people who used to vote republican turn around and say, "Hold on a second, this guy's a fucktard!".

Bush deceived EVERYbody. I never really liked him, but I liked Laura, and it's painful for someone to have to admit that the commander-in-chief is a complete imbecile who could very easily kill us all.

Actually, I think I respect you more now than I did before. Really! Being a lifelong democrat is one thing, and it's awesome, but making a turnaround is equally admirable, and your posts just rock :)

We're gonna win.

You have nothing to be ashamed of in your vote in 2000; Gore did run an incredibly lackluster campaign, and Bush had one of the best Spin Machines in the world working for him...a lot of people wanted to buy into the 'compassionate conservative' image, especially if they had though that this was a return to sane conservative values instead of Religious Reich bullshit. All just my opinion, of course...but hey, small comfort that nearly half the the people who voted agreed with you, neh?

2004, I've seen *tons* of signs that people are still conservative, but think Bush has really gone over the edge. Whether or not that will be sufficient to counteract the "fear premium", the voter suppression/fraud efforts, and the spin, remains to be seen...less than 72 hours...

As a member of the Republican powerless, I'm sickened by the whole thing myself. The more atrocities I read about, the more it feels like my party has given up on democracy all together. At this point, the story you've linked doesn't even reach my outrage threshhold. Tens of thousands of people have been targetted for disenfranchisement this year.

I would like to see a vote given the same value as, say a car. Steal one, get a minimum of a year in jail. Pull shit like Catherine Harris did or her successor is trying to do again, we put you in an oubliette and throw away the key.

Supposedly, the Kerry/Edwards team has 10,000 lawyers ready to be mobilized to deal with voting irregularlities around the country. I hope it's enough.
