Jesus God, that was ugly. Kerry was poised, articulate, and got right to the point. Bush hemmed, hawed, hesitated, eye rolled, smirked, sighed and stared blankly so much he looked like an unholy genetic crossing between Jack Nicholson in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest and a sewing circle at a retirement home for the terminally befuddled.

And let's not forget the line of the night "But what about Poland?" (or something like that)

It was indeed a thing of hideous beauty. My girlish heart filled with love for Kerry more times than Bush forgot what he was saying right in the middle of a sentence.

The "Poland" bit had me in hysterics. Truly. "Hey, I RESENT your not acknowledging the heroic men of POLAND!"

Bon Baroni, I think you need to speak to your fellow loa and see which trickster turned George Bush into an addled adolescent with the attention span of a gnat tonight.. and then shake their hand on my behalf.

I will be away for the weekend, celebrating good times and great memories in your name. Rum will be imbibed, good cigars will be smoked, and there will be much dancing.

I had a feeling he was going to wipe the floor with him. Loved how quickly Bush turned away to go to the podium at the beginning, knowing how conscious he was of the heigh differential. *smirk*

Kerry's been doing this kind of thing for years. He managed to get Georgie boy worked up and flustered - not too much, but JUST enough to let him know he can do it. Mwahahahaa.

Oh I have a feeling that this was Kerry's opening salvo. There's lots more fun to go...can't wait till next weeks open forum!

I found it amusing that Dubya just sort of stared blankly at the cameras while Kerry was speaking, but that Kerry took *notes* while Dubya was speaking.

I want a president who pays attention and takes notes, damnit!

My favorite line of the night was when Bush was talking about how CERTAIN he was that his policy in Iraq was right, and CERTAIN his talks with Korea were right..and how CERTAIN he was about Iran..and Kerry so very eloquently put it

"You can be CERTAIN and still be WRONG"

nice jab...Kerry kicked his butt respectibly...I also watched the post game wrap up..they talked about how much taller and stronger Kerry looked because of the camera angle..they had to give the same amount of headroom to both candidates which meant yousaw much more of the podium with Bush and much more of Kerry with Kerry cause..well he has that enormous head (my words not theirs) but effectively it made Kerry appear much more proportionate and pleasing to the eye..and made George look like a very small hunched over man...also Kerry Dressed better..the colors he chose (gee, can we tell I am a designer) looked good both on him and on camera and against the lighter backround he stood in front of...Bush looked very wahsed out I thought...so nto only did he sound better...he looked better...i liked too that he took notes..paid attention..and smiled and shook his head to affirm things..i did NOT like how Bush kept interrupting him though...it was like watching a case of Judge Judy..."there are rules you must follow, you will get your turn to speak sir"

Yeah. Bush sucked big brass donkey balls tonight. It's kinda sad.

He's still my candidate, though.

Oh, you can bet his team's going to work with him before the next debate in a major fashion. I don't see them letting that happens twice in a row.
