Totally non-political post - PS2 controller question

My Dual Shock 2 controller has recently started acting very strangely. To be exact, it acts as though the right hand analog stick is constantly being pushed down and to the right even though I'm not touching it. This makes it nearly impossible to do anything. Any ideas?

Controllers that are used a lot eventually get weak in the toggle.
We go thru them quite frequently, as the OEM equipment is not a good size for the hands. At some point, the plastic will wear and the toggle will go floppy-broke. My dual-shocks last 6-8 months with about 15 hours a week use. Although kids tend to be harder on these than adults...
