The image is one of the more infamous from the Abu Ghirab prison. An Iraqi detaining was forced to stand in that position for over eight hours, after having been told that if he lowered his arms, he would be electrocuted.

Bush's new pick for Attorney General, Alberto Gonzales, wrote memos as White House counsel that stated that the Geneva Convention prohibition on torture didn't apply to Iraqi prisoners.
