New trailer for The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy

The anal retentives are going to have a field day with this.

"But Ford's blaaaaaack! The Heart Of Gold isn't a shooooooe!"

I won't even get into the Zaphod whinging that will undoubtedly happen. Besides, I don't recall the book saying whether Ford was white, black, green, or puce.

Here's a clue-by-four, meatsacks: it's just a movie. I'd rather they get the story right than slavishly pour over every last detail and make sure it matches description by description.

"But there's too much aaaaaaaaction!"

It's a trailer, numbnuts. Either wait until you actually see the movie before you condemn it, or shut the fuck up and let those of us who don't have our heads up our asses enjoy it.

"But the music isn't Journey Of The Sorrrrrrrrrcerer!"

Please don't make me strangle you.

Ok, you need to get out of my head! ;-)

I was just discussing this with someone in IM this morning. I was worried over the changes I'd heard. The trailer shows me it has a good chance of working out just fine. :-) Thanks for the link.

And I need to hook up with you some night I'm not streaming (Say, Sunday) so I can send you all kind of Ramones goodness.

Looks like fun to me!
I'm not a purist. Watching more than one persons vision of a book like Hitchhikers Guide can be enlightening.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!

Yeah, but it's clear: Zaphod has two heads and three arms. This is important. Taking that out is bloody stupid.

I saw 3 arms and 2 heads in the trailer....but then again, I was a product of the '60's & grew up in the'70's so......well.....you know
*shrugs* :)

I laughed my ass off. And DA *wrote* Zaphod's head that way.

Good lord...Hitchiker purity? There *is* no such thing!

He wrote Zaphod's head that way? That it kind of lifts up from his neck and pushes the other head out of the way? It's kind of hard to see exactly what happens in the trailer. But I don't remember that. But I've listened to the radio series (which came first) more than I've read the book. The radio series really didn't have a description other than the fact that he has two heads.

But, it's a movie. It's a new interpretation, or an old one. Whatever. I'm still going to see it.

He wrote it like that *for the movie*. He wrote most of the script before he died.

Ah! I misunderstood you! You're right, of course.

Yeah, the book, the BBC series, and the radio show are all the official story, Adams said, even though (as you know) they step on each other in quite a few places.

It's...a very silly trailer. It almost looks like a bad B movie. The only description I recall of Ford Prefect is that his smile is a little too wide, and his eyes have that haunted look you get when you're a long way from home, and he's a long, long way from home.

And the music in the trailer is from MiB.

Just think.......

If it REALLY sucks, they'll have yet another reason to bring back MST3K! The bad movies are really pilin' up & could use the trio's special treatment!

Blargh.

I hate that level of anality when it comes to movies.

I remember when someone was bitching about the singing in the HP3 trailer because it wasn't there in the book.

Of course it wasn't, there doesn't need to be ambient music in books because BOOKS DON'T HAVE SOUND.

durr.

OK, that looks like a LOT of fun. Much better than the BBC production, which, frankly -- heretical as this opinion may be -- I thought was crap. Typical BBC sci-fi production values, which is to say, "We had a budget of 200 quid per episode." Zaphod's second head looked like it had been dropped oh its ... um ... dropped WAY too many times when it was young, and Marvin looked like an overgrown version of one of those cheap wind-up tin toys that would trundle along emitting sparks and grinding noises for about ten seconds before slowing to a halt and (usually) falling over.

I read Hitchiker's Guide... once, and I sooo didn't like it. But I'm a cunt, so who cares. :D

Okay, got to point out that my main concern isn't the actor (though the Ford Prefect was a distinctively British automobile), but the massive revisions Disney has reportedly performed to Adams' script, which was completed quite a long time ago. I'll opt out on this one, since to me it's like making a DaiRanger into a Power Ranger, but if you do go to see it, I hope you have fun! That is, after all, the point. Well, that and greasing corporate mofo palms.

Looks like fun. I admit I was a bit scared at first, when I heard of some of the changes, but it really looks exciting.

I like Mos Def's general air in the beginning of "We need to get the fsck out of here, and we need to get out of here now."

That guy has got some serious acting chops. Let's hope he keeps at it.
