But this takes the proverbial cake.
"OSWEGO, N.Y. - A 25-year-old woman was charged with trying to hire a man to kill her ex-husband, and police say she used one of his credit cards to pay for the would-be hit man's flight from Australia."
I mean, damn.

Not just cold-blooded, but hard-of-thinking, too
Date: 2005-05-20 03:15 am (UTC)She used one of her ex's /credit cards/ to pay for the hit man's flight? What, she thought he'd never notice? I'd be willing to lay odds she's either an alcoholic or a junkie...Entirely clean and sober adults just don't tend to fail to have that fairly obvious thought -- "It *might* be a bad idea to use his credit card to bring over from another ~continent~ the guy I want to hire to kill him..." -- at some point. If she's neither a drunk or a junkie, then I fear for whoever hooks up with her kids in decades to come, since it would likely be genetic. That level of stupidity is just bizarre.

A much better idea would've been finding some local talent, though a plan that would definitely have worked (allowing her to get away with it) would, I suppose, have required the sort of lateral thinking exemplified by the Coen brothers, so she never had much chance anyway. She's generally pretty similar to one of their more hapless schmucks, like the one in Fargo, ISTM...No criminal matermind (well, "mastermind" just sounds *wrong*;-{P}), she.
