They were doing a report on Good Morning America today about people passing themselves off as hurricane survivors so they could get handouts. I didn't catch the end of the report, but I bet it'll end up being a 20/20 segment. Anyway, not only does this take away from the real survivors, it aspires to a level of pure scum that's so far beyond the pale it aspires almost to genius.

Is it scummy or is it opportunism? If it's someone who hasn't eaten in three days does it matter if they're homeless by natural disaster, mental illness, or something else?

I haven't seen the show so I don't know what kinds of people were doing this. I'm just theorizing.
