Sparked by today's Washington Post story that suggests Vice President Cheney's office is involved in the Plame-CIA spy link investigation, government officials and advisers passed around rumors that the vice president might step aside and that President Bush would elevate Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

Well, lovely. So we'd move from having the guy one step from the presidency being a corrupt asshole whose only saving grace is that he might die, to one with no saving graces at all.

While in a heated dicussiona bout the presidency and that fact that we were happy bush could not run again, I mentioned to my friend that "yeah, but that doesn't leave out chaney, VP's almost always run when the 2 term limit is up." She actually got chills. The thought had not occurred to her that chaney will be running...now THIS. Only saving grace is (if you can call it that) is that there are still too many chauvenistic males and white supremists in the US to ever allow a woman let alone a BLACK woman into the office of president.

What a sad comment on society...it's not the fact that she is an incompetant ass like the rest but because she is a black woman that would keep her out of office.
