at least in my home state (NJ), I'm not convinced that Corzine will be worth anything. Then again, I'm not convinced Forrester would have done anything, but that's why I abstained from voting -- because I couldn't make a decision on the lesser of two weevils this time around.
I'm in Jersey too and I was just trying to figure out who sucked the least. I did vote, but mainly for some local peeps that really have more of an impact on what is going on. Trying to close "Club Monmouth" as our local paper put it. Corzine was an afterthought.
Not much surprised me yesterday, though I was disappointed that all of the initiatives in California were defeated. Non-partisan redistricting, at least, would be useful in every state (the alternative is the usual gerrymandering).
After a fashion....these days I'm not sure one can call any political or quasi-political entity "Non-Partisian". If they are appointed by a politician, the odds are they just might be partisian too. It doesn't matter whether or not there's a card in thier pocket declaring them Demo, Repub, Libertarian, Green, whatever. IMO, YMMV, ABCD
California, IMHO, is lost to us. It needs to be broken loose, towed five hundred miles out into the Pacific, and scuttled in deep water. However, doing the same to a cruise ship loaded with all -- ALL -- the politicians in California would probably have most of the same beneficial effect, with far smaller environmental impact.
