Newsmax says torture worked on John McCain

So he should shut up about its effectiveness

This is taken from the Rude Pundit's site and is in reference to a Newsmax editorial and as always, The Rude One puts it a bit more obscenely than I did, but the clincher is this:

"Here's the end: "That McCain broke under torture doesn't make him any less of an American hero. But it does prove he's wrong to claim that harsh interrogation techniques simply don't work." They are lower than the scum under the Rude Pundit's refrigerator. They're the dirt the scum eats to grow."

Those last two sentences are in reference to Newsmax, and I couldn't agree more.

They neglect to mention that McCain's "breaking" involved naming his fellow troops... whom for some reason had the same name as the Green Bay Packers offensive line.

The Rude One says there'll be more Wednesday. Batten down the hatches.

I used to think we were the good guys. Now I wonder if there are any good guys left.

Nonsense. I read the editorial, and find nothing wrong with it. The argument against torture has nothing to do with its effectiveness, unless one is an "ends justify the means" sort (and the less said about such unprincipled, "pragmatic" people, the better). The argument against torture is simply that it's inhumane and uncivilized. It's utility is irrelevant. Pointing out that torture can work as an interrogation technique, and that McCain's own writings contradict his statements to the contrary, is perfectly valid.

That's not the point, Noah. These people are using what happened to John McCain to justify the use of torture, falling perfectly in line with Cheney and his goons.
