You know, as brain damaged as I think this "war" is, I do understand the need for coverage as events warrant. Note the key phrase, there: as events warrant. But they're playing the same damn footage and recycling the same damn talking heads they've been shoving down our throats all day.

Get the fuck off my tv screen, you gibbering idiots!

They do that in case there are people who don't watch TV all day.

but without the recycling of footage and talking heads, people wouldn't be properly afraid, and might start questioning why the war ... why the need for it instead of why the hell do the rich and corporations get massive tax breaks when it's the average person that's hurting.

I note that I'm spending even more time than usual tuned to Home and Garden (HGTV) and the Discovery and Learning channels.

Amazing how many people don't know how to do that. (I feel a rant coming on.)

In this case I agree with you. And it is sadly the case when ever something of major importance happens. Perhaps if the 3 major networks could get together and on a rotating basis provide *wall to wall coverage* one at a time. (Hey ABC is covering the ___ it must be Monday!).

And there are any number of cable news stations that can do as they see fit. But you are right, seeing the same footage over and over again numbs the mind faster than a Unix manual being read at bedtime.

You think that's bad? Try going to WalMart. It goes from horrific to surreal really really quickly. While I was there, they switched from standard WallyWorld TV to 'war' coverage. Unfortunately, no two TVs or radios in the entire damned store are in sync. I wasn't just getting it in stereo, I was getting echo effects. Up to three times. From all directions. Creepy.

And I like an earlier suggestion.."if this is Fox, it must be Thursday.."

`Zactly. They seem to be running this the same way they did last ratings grabber Gulf War...it'll be mostly news (though, hardly any of it will be new.) for the next week, then they'll go back to regular programming with hourly news breaks.

Must keep that propaganda machine grinding, you know.

*sigh* Sometimes, I think I'm too cynical. Other times, I'm pretty sure I'm not cynical enough.

Either way, I love you.
