My beloved lady has an unfortunate allergy to dairy products. I was wondering if there were some really good vegan or veggie cheese alternatives available that I could get once I was in Manchester?
i too am allergic to dairy, but it is a lactose intolerance type of thing. so i CAN drink lactofree milk, and for some reason am fine wiht goats milk most fo the time, and low fat yoghurts either goat or cow don't seem to affect it nor cheese. i don't know of any decent non dairy cheese, though they do exist and can be found in larger supermarkets but an interesting thing is most dairy intolerant people tend to be ok wiht buffola milk and there is such a thing as buffalo cheese, which is hard to get here but you can prob get there. as long as the cheese has no sharp edges, does not tick or make buzzing sounds and no wires sticking out you may even get it into the UK ;)
quite a few seem to. it is great for peptic ulcers, too, which is why i eat loads of it. can get goats yogurt too, it's a LOT nicer than normal yogurt.
That is _the_ Unicorn grocery, and it's really good for that sort of thing. Also, in the city centre, there's a place called Earth Cafe. It's under the Buddhist Centre, and it's completely dairy free. Which is nice.
