One thing Nancy has to deal with in Washington is that back home, here (she's one district over from me, my rep is Barbara fucking Lee, who makes Pelosi look conservative), her opponents are those who think she kowtows to the administration too much, is too moderate, and doesn't represent this region's values.

(Seriously: There are conservatives here, but few enough that SF mayoral races are between the Socialist or Green party person, or at least the hyperliberal Democrat, and the mainstream Democrat, and Barbara Lee never has to worry about her seat. However, it's indicative of California politics that, west to east, in order, are the districts of Pelosi, Lee, and just east of that, what was until Tuesday the district of Richard Pombo, one of the most conservative legislators. Apparently even those folks got sick of him, though.)

Isn't it fun to watch the entire reactionary punditosphere suddenly start blithering about 'bipartisanship'?

Kinda wonder where that's been, hrm?

Couldn't they have found a better screencap of her? :-P

(Why, yes, my diamond shoes do pinch.)

I hope she brings those Frisco values to the House! If she moderates her position, it's far less likely to result in gridlock, and that's what I've been hoping for since, well, forever. :-)
