What I want to do is copy my C drive, bag and baggage, to a higher capacity HD and thus be able to replace my current C drive with the new one.

once you've got them both in, set one as the slave and install both and simply copy them. if you have the room you could even keep the first one.....most computers can have a Master and Slave drives.
