Looks Ahnuld gets to be Governor Grabass.

Remember, kids, it's apparently perfectly okay to be a regular Chester The Molester as long as you're a reasonably famous movie star.

As disgusted as I am, I see one silver lining.

This could destroy the Republican Party in California. Conan the Governor is going to quickly realize that everything he does affects the very voters who trusted him, and he is the voice of the Party. He's going to discover that the Assembly and Senate are are Oscar-calibre actors. 2/3rds of them will hate his guts, and that includes some GOPers. That 38 Dirksen hole is now his baby. And promised to fill it in, without raising revenues. He thinks the fembot Terminator was tough? Wait until he goes after some group's Pet Project..

He's also going to, for the first time since Pumping Iron, be working without a script. Those political reporters working the Capitol beat are sharp as knives and quick to pounce. These guys are not entertainment fluffs! They will find out if Arnie has no clothes real fast.

With luck, by the 2004 election, So many Californians will have been turned off the GOP that Bush won't get but a handful of votes.

True, true, and you just KNOW Doonesbury is going to have a field day with this.

i have serious doubts about this "destroying the republican party." Just remember, after 4 years with Jesse "The Brainless" Ventura, more Minnesotans voted for Independant party candidates than ever before (excluding him of course as he was a fluke and really a democrat anyways)

I would be truly surprised if he doesn't do significantly better than Gray Davis. And really, if he can eliminate some of the... welll... unorthodox ways Davis spent money, and the Democrats listen to their party chairman, you're going to see a relatively comfortable 3 years for Arnold in office.
