I'm trying to import the firefox bookmarks from my desktop to my laptop via that funky import dealio json file thing. It gives me the warning about replacing the current bookmarks with the import, I hit OK and then nothing changes. FEH. Any ideas out there, you tech savvy folken?

Why Import?

Copy the Favorites folder. paste into the Laptop's Favorites folder.
Rename that Favorites inside the Laptop's Favorites to "Imported Faves"

I historically do not trust Import/Export utilities. Sometimes - they fail to merge and instead overwrite which can cause problems.

I really like the addon for Firefox called Xmarks. It saves a copy out to a server an account you create and merges pretty well. I've not lost any, ever. You can merge from more than one machine as well. I have my work laptop, home laptop and home desktop all connected and they all have the same bookmarks. I recently reloaded my machine at home and loaded the Xmarks add-on, sync'd and all my bookmarks were back.

Don't even bother with the json file crap. Under "Organize Bookmarks" "Export as html", then "import as html" that file on the other comp. So simple it works like a dream.
