Do they never learn?

So I hear the Powers That Be are considering bringing back the draft. Are they so out of touch with reality they think it'll be any more popular or work any better than the last time we were in a vastly unpopular war?

I do hope nobody decides to prattle to me about patriotism. My great grandfather was in WW1, my grandfather Irving was in a tank at D-Day, my father was in Thailand the day I was born, and I myself would have been a United States Marine (no, I'm not kidding) if that blessed football game my senior year hadn't occured and perforce turned my left kneecap partially into kindling.

I love America. But what galloping neo-conservatism is turning the "United" States into is rather an unpleasant place.

Now, that's just idiotic. the strength of our army is the fact that each and every one of those folk out there chose to put their precious lives and bodies between the enemy and America. i wouldn't want to be defended by anyone who didn't choose to be there.

I wonder if the Army could use Civvie radio personnel? You know, for Armed Forces Radio.

I'll convert you to a ham yet.

(Ham radio operator, that is. Otherwise it'd be redundant. OHO!)
