Oh, there you are.

They showed up at 9 and wouldn't even let me go get the money. We're at an Econolodge until we can find a place, and the cats are with Animal Control. Heartsick doesn't even begin to cover it.

I'll talk about it when I can summon the energy to, but as of right now we're homeless. Victims.. aren't we all?

Something to think about - they were demanding cash, so there would be no paper trail. Given their previous behavior, the odds that they would try this kind of treatment on you again, had you paid cash, would have been considerable. And you have already been through too much bad treatment with them.

I know that this is terribly stressful right now. But being away from these people will be better for you in the long run.

May you find your way to a safe, affordable and comfortable place, instead.

The demand for cash is notable there. Lots of other forms of payment have instant clearance too.

Doc, you have my sympathies. I hope your bank has all of the appropriate records and can prove the landlord was mistaken, which will help in civil court. If they show that they screwed up, I hope your bank has the humanity to help you given the extreme circumstances their mistake put you in.
