If you ever want to make me nearly insensate with anger and disgust, repeat some variant on the simple minded drivel that if you're against the war you're: (a) a coward, (b) against the war means you're against the troops, (c) against the war so you're obviously supporting Hussein, (d) against the war so you've obviously a turrist sympathizer, or (e) all of the above.

I heard the following quote once, but can't place where:

There's nothing wrong with patriotism, defined as "love of my country", until you define "love" as "blind unquestioning worship" and "my country" as "the man in the White House."

Well, since you're obviously not willing to give oral to Ashcroft, and take it up the ass without lube from Rummy, you're obviously unpatriotic. You terrorist loving,` American hating liberal you. Anne Coulter would be offended!

Argh. I can't find it in me to try and understand the mindset of these people. I grew up with them (very conservative family) and I still can't understand. Why do so many people let the government, the "church", or advertising campaigns think for them? Personally, I'll breath a sigh of relief if we find out that Hussein is really dead, but this war was never about freedom for Iraq. Who in their right mind would buy that shit?

My favorite is the people who claim they support our troops and that, plus his integrity and courage, are why they're going to vote for Bush in the next election. Oddly, asking for specific examples gets you labeled an asshole.

From the other side of the fence:

I swear, if one Democrat had a sensible plan for getting out of Iraq, I would probably vote for them. And they would be the first Dem I ever voted for.

I may not be 100% thrilled with the way the war has been prosecuted to date, but washing our hands of it and pretending it's not our problem or that we wouldn't be picking up the pieces from the fallout for the next fifty years isn't an option to me.

Maybe that makes me a traitor, too.
