That filth in the White House has supported the constitutional amendement redefining marriage. There can be no excuse for this.
As all that is holy, good and true is my witness, you and your religious reich ilk will be defeated on this, Bush. You are a disgrace to humanity.
Be damned with you and all such who would disenfranchise so many of my friends and family based solely on who they love.
The gloves are off, Bush.

2] There is a fair chance that Bush will win, not fairly, but win irrespective of how the voters decide.
So, come November, we're screwed whatever happens.
The thought occurs to me:
Revolutions do not come about because a majority of people wish it.
Revolutions occur because a dedicated, largish minority start to doing something about an injustice, and the majority decide to come along once the bandwagon starts rolling.
and why am I interested in what happens to country i don't live in? because if America becomes a theocracy, Britain is going to catch flack over it too. We're not that far behind you, heck it's becomeing more like being in the 51st state everyday [or Airstrip One].
Only problem is, the citizenry is even more apathtic. So, might as well tackle the rot at source. [ie Bush&Co]

Date: 2004-02-24 09:41 pm (UTC)Specifically, the idea of one man with supreme veto power (I think - I know the President definitely has a helluva lot of power), and the whole two-party system thing. It alway reminds me of the Hallowe'en Simpsons episode where the candidates were taken over by two evil aliens, and as everyone slaves under Kang, Homer says 'don't blame me, I voted for Kodos!'. There often seems to be no good choice, and then what can the voters do? When I'm not happy with either choice, I vote, but ruin my ballot to express displeasure, but that probably doesn't do anything (shows that I'm not apathetic, at least).
I would hope that a lot of the younger voters in the States turn out to vote in the next election. From what I can see, a lot of them feel very strongly about this particular issue (on both sides, yes, but very strongly nonetheless), and this is one of the ways they can change something. Apathy drives me nuts. Way I see it, if I could have voted and didn't, I would have no right to complain about the results.
