Well, the all-Goth all the time format was getting nowhere for reasons I've outlined before (mainly it's been done over and over and the ones who've done it well have Very Well Established listener bases that just are not going to switch or add a station to their playlists). I asked you folks about switching to a variety format and you said it would be a good thing and that's gone even worse once the novelty wore off. I mean, if people want variety they can plug in their own playlists and hit random.

So here's the thing: there's a related genre of our original format that's not been done to death (you should pardon the expression) as a format and really grabs me when I listen to it. It grabs a whole heck of a lot of people, truth be told, and I think I'd like to give it a shot.

Horrorpunk. Gothabilly/Pyschobilly. Graveyard Surf. In short, Misfits/Nekromantix/3-D Invisibles type music with stuff like Dropkick Murphys and Eight Ball Grifter thrown in. Plus, of course, stuff for us Olde Farte Gothes and the best of melodic goth as opposed to the endless droning bullshit cookie cutter crap that passes for Goth in a lot of cases these days.

I also want to know what you would like to hear on the station that would get you to tune in more often. Programs I might run, do we need more live DJs, stuff like that. I really want to hear from you folks on this, so sing out.

No kidding, folks, I'm really counting on you here. Help your ol' Doc out and let me know.

I went through a psychobilly phase a while ago and would totally tune in more often if I knew you were playing it.

There's still a thriving scene in NYC with lots of little indie bands - maybe there's a mailing list you can get on to see if they'll send you samples?

Oo, that'd be choice.

I miss talking to you, by the way.

Well, I don't have any grand ideas off the top of my head unfortunately, but I'll certainly think on it :D Unfortunately, what I've been listening to these days (besides my eternal NIN, duh :) would, I think, be termed metal/punk and not very much along the lines of what you're thinking.

Also, once my schedule settles in with the new job, I hope to be able to finally LISTEN to the shows on a consistent basis. Sheesh nothing like your time sense going on vacation!

I'm biased but the psychobilly idea sounds good

Whatever rolls your gymsocks, boss :) When I get off my ass and start doing my bit again, it'll be lots of randomness, as always.

I'm afraid I know so little about the genres to be of much help, my tastes have become more eclectic too

does Hayseed Dixie count as psychobilly or just psycho?

My trouble thus far

There are songs that get played that I cannot find anywhere on the website.

If you need me to send you music, I can Gmail you some to see if you like it. Get me at Disgruntledgrrl and I'll fire back ome mp3s. DeathBoy is a guy on LJ that often posts his music for download. A lot of it is like old Nine Inch nails stuff. It's good.

I think you need to expand the music, and have someone go thru what you do have listed and get rid of the repeats. Have you any idea how many DU Hast entries you have?

So write me back in Gmail. If you need a Gmail acct - which I recommend for Radio Nosferatu because you can send/receive MP3 files up to 10 megs each and you can hold 2.5 gigs in the inbox - let me know.

Glad to help again!

Can't really say. Even when I had a fast connection, I rarely remembered to listen. Now that I'm on dialup, it's pretty unlikely that I'll listen.
